Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ('Terms') govern your use of Licid ('the platform', 'we', 'us'). By registering an account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
1. About Licid
Licid is an online platform that connects tenants looking for rental housing with landlords offering properties in the Netherlands. Licid acts solely as an intermediary — we are not a party to any rental agreement between tenant and landlord.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Licid. By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and complete. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
3. Tenant Rules
As a tenant on Licid, you agree to: • Only submit bids you genuinely intend to follow through on • Provide truthful information in your profile, including income and household details • Not create multiple accounts • Not attempt to contact landlords outside the platform to circumvent the bidding process
4. Landlord Rules
As a landlord on Licid, you agree to: • Only list properties you legally have the right to rent out • Provide accurate descriptions, photos, and pricing • Respond to applicants in a reasonable time • Not discriminate against applicants on the basis of nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic under Dutch law • Honour accepted bids and proceed to a rental agreement in good faith
5. Bids and Acceptance
A bid placed by a tenant is a serious expression of intent. It is not legally binding until a rental agreement is signed outside the platform. Acceptance of a bid by a landlord does not automatically constitute a legal rental agreement — both parties must still sign a formal contract. Licid is not responsible for disputes arising from bids, acceptances, or subsequent rental agreements.
6. Video Call Interviews
Licid facilitates video call interviews between landlords and tenants as part of the application process. These calls are powered by a third-party provider (Whereby) and are embedded within the Licid platform. By joining a video call via Licid, you acknowledge that the call is processed by Whereby. Licid does not record calls. Session metadata (start and end times) may be logged for platform verification purposes. Participants are responsible for their own conduct during calls. Video calls are intended solely for assessing rental applications and must not be used for any other purpose.
7. Prohibited Use
You may not use Licid to: • Publish false, misleading, or fraudulent listings or profiles • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users • Attempt to hack, overload, or disrupt the platform • Scrape, copy, or redistribute platform content without permission • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
8. Platform Availability
We aim to keep Licid available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for losses caused by downtime, technical errors, or data loss beyond our reasonable control.
9. Intellectual Property
All platform content, design, and code is owned by Licid. Users retain ownership of content they upload (photos, documents). By uploading content, you grant Licid a limited licence to store and display it solely for the purpose of operating the platform.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or cause harm to other users. You may delete your account at any time via your account settings.
11. Liability
Licid is an intermediary platform. We are not liable for: • The accuracy of listings or user profiles • Disputes between tenants and landlords • Loss or damage arising from rental agreements • Indirect or consequential damages Our total liability to you shall not exceed €100.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
